A Day of Learning and Inspiration with NIA-YAF

On Friday, 3rd October 2025, the Young Architects Forum (YAF) of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) embarked on an insightful site excursion in Ikoyi and Victoria Island, Lagos.

The experience was designed to expose young architects to real-world construction practices, deepen their technical understanding, and strengthen the link between academic knowledge and professional application.
Our first stops—The Pantheon, 23-Story Peace Tower, and Madilas Tower in Ikoyi—were hosted by The Building Practice and guided by Arc. Michael Alley, who gave participants an in-depth tour of ongoing works, construction methodologies, and safety practices on site.

We later visited the another impressive highrise project in Victoria Island, hosted by Consultants Collaborative Partnership (CCP) and led by Arc. Uduak Udoh, where we explored integrated design processes, project management systems, and the challenges of high-rise construction in dense urban contexts.

The excursion was not only educational but deeply inspiring. It offered NIA’s Young Architects exposure to the realities of site practice and fostered meaningful interaction between emerging and established professionals in the industry.

A heartfelt appreciation to The Building Practice and Consultants Collaborative Partnership (CCP) for opening their sites and sharing invaluable insights, and to our Pearl President, Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi, FNIA, PNIA for birthing this vision and for her continued support for inclusion and nurturing the next generation of architects.
Together, we continue to build a community of architects who learn, grow, and inspire.
